Andrew Bernardo rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review: So much candied lemon, lemon zest, dried tropical fruit, unripe stone fruit, and beeswax. Super mouthwatering. Stunning. 91 Points.
Greg Hughes rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review: Trail Estate might be located in Hillier, Ontario, but this wine is not from nearby Prince Edward County. This wine is from Niagara's Twenty Mile Bench sub-appellation. There is purity, so much concentration, that it's irresistably drinkable. What a delightful expression of Niagara ripeness/freshness balance. It has a really well built out palate. It sees oak, but it's neutral. The palate comes from the unfilteredness amd probably extended contact with the fine lees. Pair this beauty with some pulled chicken and a summer salad.
Mary Anne van Gaal rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review: Can a Riesling be buttery like a Chardonnay? This wine makes me wonder. Aromas of lime and beeswax are followed by a very smooth feel in the mouth. Then the more acidic flavours of pineapple and lemon round out this wine. So very different for a Riesling. This is strong enough to pair with a nice spicy Asian curry. Tasted September 16, 2018.
Simon Chen rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review: A very good dry riesling from Prince Edward County. Lemony and a bit of toastiness on the nose. A bit savory, oil, good minerality, and gentle acid. A bit pricey but a good representation of the riesling made in the region!
Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review: Aromas of lemon and lemon zest, pineapple, stone and a hint of bread and yeasty notes. Full bodied and smooth on the palate, with an almost oily texture, and lots of lemon and mineral notes on the palate. Enjoy with chicken or light seafood dishes.
Colin McKone - Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review: Straw in colour with aromas of lemon, peach and minerality. It is dry and light bodied with mouthwatering acidity and flavours of lemon & peach. This will pair nicely with green salads or Asian dishes. Tasted on September 16, 2018.
Samer Forzley rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review: On the nose: Pineapple, lemon, peach, crushed stone, floral Replays with lemon, pineapple, peach Mid acid, light body, mid finish with peach and lemon Pair with salad
The second vintage of this style at Trail Estate, this wine was hand-harvested from the Foxcroft Vineyard, partially destemmed and partially crushed with stems on. The wine fermented naturally, and continued fermenting into the spring of 2017. Malolactic fermentation occurred naturally in the sping/summer. The wine aged on lees in neutral oak for about eleven months. Bottled without any fining or filtration. This wine is vibrant and juicy with aromatics of lime zest, sweet lemon and spice. A complex and full palate result from extended lees contact in neutral oak barrels. Fully dry. A generous finish of charred lemons and rich cream. Source: Winery (Trail Estate Winery)
