Reviews and Ratings

Deborah Podurgiel WSET IV Candidate - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Wow! This IS a gorgeous, just dry Sauvignon Blanc from River Stone Estate Winery in Oliver, British Columbia. Fragrant with warm spring grass, melon, passionfruit, guava, lemon-lime zest aromas; dry, medium-bodied, fresh and supple on the palate with medium intensity fresh melon, grassy, tropical fruit, orange citrus, subtle gooseberry and crisp mineral flavours supple and brilliant on the palate. Very nicely done! Tasted March 2022.

There is residual sugar (12.8 g/l) that balances out this otherwise would be mouth-watering SB. Of course, Sauvignon Blanc should be fresh, sometimes racy and mouth-watering, but the fresh and ripe fruit flavours and mineral nuances on this SB would be lost if it had any more acidity. In short, it is perfectly balanced for its style. The winery suggests serving it lightly chilled.

The Sauvignon Blanc grapes for this vintage were sourced from a neighbouring vineyard North of Oliver on the west side of the valley. Vineyard soils are composed of sandy loam deposited during the last glaciation. Grapes were hand-harvested, destemmed and left to cold soak for several hours prior to pressing to tanks. The wine juice was settled and transferred to another stainless-steel tank for temperature-controlled fermentation.
