Reviews and Ratings

Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Marimar's Sonoma Coast Pinot from their Dona Margarita vineyard uses Pommard, Dijon 115 and 667 Pinot Noir clones that help contribute to its full flavoured yet delicate and refined style. The palate shows the depth of the black cherry, field berries, earth, spice, and vanilla. Very deep, very complex. A terrific wine. Enjoy 2015-2020 with boeuf bourguignon. Tasted September 2015. 92 points. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca
Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

For California Pinot lovers this wine is the bomb! Well crafted and weighty by Pinot standards - yet elegant. This is one for the collector or the perfect gift. Lovely floral nose fades to familiar cherry, dried fruit, cranberry and vanilla. The palate is light with medium(+) acidity, vanilla and cedar. Very nice indeed. Enjoy on it's own or pair with poultry or pork.
Tasted: Sept 2015
This unfiltered Californian red wine is made from Pinot Noir grapes grown in the winery's Doña Margarita Vineyard which sits above the estate's equestrian centre. Hence the name of the wine, Cavalls, which means horse farm in the Catalan, the mother tongue of founder Marimar Torres. The 20-acre Dona Magarita Vineyard is named in honour of his late mother, Margarita Torres an it's planted on a 600 foot high plateau 6 miles from the Pacific Ocean. The Pinot Noir grapes are from the Pommard, Dijon 115 and 667 clones and are panted at a density of 2,340 vines per acre in Goldrige soils - a fine sandy loam over fractured sandstone that benefits from cool ocean fog and breezes. - Community Wine Reviews
