A lovely amber hue with aromas of toasted almonds and nuts, dried fruit and brown sugar. Long finish. Serve at room temperature. Match with hard cheeses, salty nuts and cured meats.

Wine drinkers are lucky that such a quality producer still manages to deliver on quality in an entry level product. It is a shame that Sherry has been so unpopular for a time; always seen as a drink for old ladies, alcoholics, or diletant wine enthusiasts. It's actually very labour intensive and a million things can go wrong. Lustau should stand out as your benchmark quality Sherry.
The colour is a beautiful amber, with a light rim and a dark core.
It is a dry style, with a lot of funky aromas. Charred wood, maple syrup, mushroon, cardamom, cocoa, and assam tea jump to mind. The fruit are subtle, but present. A great lemon zing is there on the nose and even more present on the palate.
It is rich and full, but not particularly alcoholic, for a Sherry. there are some candied almond and pecan notes. Smoke and wood. Bruised apple too.
Lustau has been operating for a very long time and they are the standard bearers for tradition in Xeres. Many styles that would have been lost forever are still upheld by this great producer. If you enjoyed this example of quality Sherry, try their East India which is usually available at Christmas. It is a proprietary blending of Pedro Ximenez and Oloroso. Pair either with tapas or charcuterie.
