Rustic in an extremely attractive, woodland, cedar brush way. So tasty with a great grip on the senses and palate. Loaded with black pepper and dark spice followed by fleshy blackberries and cassis. Very sexy stuff. Full-bodied and smooth. Great price.

Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Dry, robust blend of Syrah, Grenache, Carignan and Mourvedre with aromas of pepper and dark berries. Rich flavours layered with pepper, mulberries and green olives followed a long spicy finish make this wine perfect for duck cassoulet or hearty southern French fare.
Douglas McMillan rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Black and green olives, black cherries, dried leaves and spice make up the aroma. The taste is similar and has quite a lot of complexity to it without being overwhelming. Nice wine for prime rib, or just for sipping.
The Chateau Pech Redon is a vineyard located in the heart of the Languedoc region of southern France, with the vineyards planted on the uppermost part of La Clape's hill and secluded facing the Mediterranean sea. The surrounding biodiversity of aromatic herbs, plants and trees influence the micro terroir and climate. Originally the wines produced from this region were coveted in ancient Rome. Pair with duck comfit cassoulet, leg of lamb in rosemary and game meats. Finishes with dark spices and thyme. The 2012 vintage of the La Clape Epervier is a robust red wine blend of 60% Syrah and 40% Grenache grapes. The wine is matured for 24 months in 70% stainless steel tanks and 30% large oak barrels. - Community Wine Reviews
