A full-bodied red wine featuring fleshy ripe black cherry aromas on the nose wrapped in mocha and dark chocolate. Smooth. Previous vintages of this wine have won the Gold Medal at the Concours des Grands Vins du Languedoc-Roussillon. There are attractive notes of spice and coffee on this finish. This wine is a blend of 55% Syrah along with Grenache, Carignan and Mourvèdre grapes from old vines. Pair with a pepper steak.

Food pairings: braised meat dishes, blackened peppercorn steaks, char-grilled burgers.

Reviews and Ratings

Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

2013 Gold Medal Concours Mondial Bruxelles. A delightful and pretty red blend of Syrah, Grenache, Carignan and Mourvedre with an enticing spicy red fruit nose. The palate is clean with bright acidity, integrating tannins; the spice and red fruit repeat. A long violets and vanilla finish complete this elegant red wine. At $20 this is a solid price performer. Pair with charred red meats, game, roasted Prime Rib.
Tasted: March 2015
Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier reviewed this wine as follows:

Stewed fruit on the nose and palate. Refreshing acidity makes this wine a youthful easy going wine to enjoy with friends. Enjoy 2015-2017. Tasted March 2015. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca
This wine won a gold medal at the 2013 Concours Mondial de Bruxelles wine competition. Produced by Vigneron Thierry Tastu - Maître - this wine hails from Corbières which the largest designated appellation in the Languedoc-Roussillon region with 11 different terroirs (soil and climate combinations). The 2011 vintage of the Cuvée Renaissance is mostly Syrah grapes. - Community Wine Reviews
